Black Grouse Lek and Red Grouse

A recent visit to North Yorkshire led me to venture further north into County Durham.  I arrived at a possible site for Black Grouse at 7am to find them lekking; around 15 males were in full flow, a spectacular sight.

Always a bit distant, and without my usual camera it was difficult to get any close images.  However, some of the females were more obliging as they got up on a wall nearby.

Further up the valley Red Grouse were showing well too.
